Happy Eid Mubarak!

Hari Raya or Eid-al-Fitr is a Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan, the month of fasting. In Indonesia, Eid is commonly known as Hari Raya Idul Fitri. Muslims in Indonesia celebrate Eid like other Muslims throughout the world.

The spirit of gathering in every Hari Raya is our favorite time of the year. When distant family gathers in one table, catching up, share some happiness whilst having a same meal under one roof. That is our inspirations for the illustrations. These are our take on two of Indonesian household favorite menus to make in every Hari Raya. The first one is Opor Ayam (Chicken in Coconut Gravy) and the other is Gulai Kambing (Lamb Gulai).

Morrie made these illustrations in watercolor. We’re thinking of making postcards or greeting cards with these illustrations. Mail us here for the details and pricing if you’re interested of having these in prints or anything.

The Detail

Do you love receiving handwritten letters from a faraway friend, hearty package from your pen-pal or a meaningful postcard from your traveller buddy? Well, we’re sucker for them. Because the fact that your letter would cheer someone up was quite elating.

Well, we assume people still do send them despite all these techie ways of keeping in touch, otherwise post offices would be long gone, right? So we’re thinking, how about making some postcards with the edible theme for Keuken, since we’ll be having the event in less than 2 weeks? To say we thrilled would be an understatement.

The process of making them was much fun. We only prepared 10 bundles for every set. There’s 3 sets of four postcard consist of 1 veggies series and 1 fruits series (there’s 3 different illustration in every series), along with 1 spices and 1 picnic theme included in every pack. And the best part is they’ll be available for sale at Keuken‘s merch stand. We jumped right on in a heartbeat.

2013 Calendar

Tomorrow we’re gonna start the new day in 2013. Looking back, we still reminisced the day we finally started this. The ideas that became our dreams that came from hours of random conversations. How we finally made one of our dreams visible.

Back in 2012, we grow accustomed with a certain sugary treats, doughnuts! (we feel you, Homer). That with a cup of hot coffee milk, we usually had a break between our hours of busy routines. When laughters and conversations flows and the hours go by seconds, we accused those sugar-rush aftereffect (ha!)

We always wanted to make a calendar for our own and we did, finally (yaiy!). In the spirit of celebration, we want to give you the doughnuts we had all this year, not the real one (believe us, we want to if we could) but we hope these could brighten your day everyday, just like the real donuts do to us. The artworks inspired by our favorite doughnuts and Morrie did the artwork with her favorite media, watercolor.

This will be our last post of the year. We hope that you have a great years ahead and that you end up having a good time whichever way you choose to celebrate. May the new year bring you happiness and many joy to your life.

Here are the printable version of our 2013 calendar, feel free to hang them on your wall just like we do :)
