Senandung Melagu

We always had a thing for Indonesian songs, especially those from the 60′s to 70′s. The harmonious melody adorned with effortless yet poetic lyrics. Every so often the lyrics is about love but many is about daily mundane things that you could never think people could actually make a song about it. It’s so amusing and made us laugh sometimes.

When we listened to those songs, we always imagined how it is to live in those years and how the people doing their routines back then. A certain thing we noticed about them is how cheerful is the tone of the songs with the way the singer sang, and how it evoked some kind of happiness to the people who hear the songs for the first time. They really made our day.

So, we gather some of our favourite ones in hope that you can feel the uplifting vibe even in the rainy and cloudy days (just like in Kanazawa & Bandung these days *sigh*). Here is our Senandung Melagu mixtape. You can listen on 8Tracks or just download it here.

Have a pleasant day, everyone!

Summer Pops

Summer weather is our very favourite, the feeling of scattered rays hitting your skin, as you bask with a book beside a breezy window. All those long balmy days, soft summer winds and lazy nights, when it is so warm and steamy and nice.

We celebrates all the good things about the warmer months in town with endless icy treats, trips to the markets for sweet fruits, floral explosions, and impromptu road trips with all those cheerful sounds of pop songs in the backgrounds. All those lovely things are perfect to wile away the sunshine-filled season, and we thought it would be a good idea to compile a list of our take on summer-loves inspired that we can refer back to when we’re lying in our beds at night tossing and turning because it’s too hot to fall asleep. That’s not to say we do really have an urge with summer, despite all of its loveliness. We just tend to forget all of its perks when complaining about the tortuous, sweaty, and unpleasant heat.

Since the high-degree Celsius is inevitable, and it somehow worsen at night, we hope these catchy tunes will helps to forget that at some point. Best served with a fan ready on your bedside, a cold tall glass of ice tea or better yet, your favorite ice cream/stick with a working air-con right above your bed.

Late Night Drive Mixtape

We always have this peculiar feeling when we’re driving late at night. To embrace the whim of the weather because the sky can be unpredictable. The night can be still or breezy, drizzle or even a thunderstorm. But it was always exceptional when the night is clear, to feel the cold wind if you let the windows down, the sight of stars overhead transforms whatever road you’ve travelled on into a tiny twinkling marvelous constellation and to finally slow things down in order to focus and be in that moment.

And as the weather grows colder and the time is reaching 12, we always choose to play some songs that can makes us lose ourself in the sounds and keeping good company while we reminisce the day inside the car, or with the headphone when we’re on a bike. So we compiled these songs for that times when you’re behind the steer late at night before the sun is up, alone or better yet with company. Either way we hope this mixtape could accompany you on the road as you travelled back home.

Good night and safe driving, everyone!

Hello Sunshine

We don’t know where you are this Sunday morning, but we’re sitting by a foggy window pane watching the sun slowly comes up and secretly thanking God, Monday is still tomorrow (or is it tomorrow after? :p)

There are a few things that go with the usual Sunday like this. Cups of mint tea, the woolly embrace of our blankie, and a perfect soundtracks for a day of hibernation in the background. A music for those days when you just want to get the weight of the world off your shoulders is to dance it off or else, a reminder for us to slow down for today.
